Mobile Mammography Unit Concept

A One Stop Mobile Cancer Center

 

As part of the strategic planning of the National Association for Cancer Awareness is to offer not only awareness and advocacy, but to reach out to the community by offering to their doorstep the services of The Association; a mobile unit is to be bought by The Association through donations to achieve the above objectives of The Association.

 

 

The unit is a vehicle that will house facilities for:

 

 

  1. Materials for Awareness and Advocacy.

     

  2. Necessary equipment for screening, such as facilities for mammography,

     

      Pap smear and Bone densitometry.

 

 

The Concept

 

 

The unit will visit different wilayats as per the program offered and organized by the Association and offer the above services free of charge to the community. The visits will be coordinated by the responsible personalities of the area visited such as the Walis. The idea is to instil the concept of repeated examination that leads to early diagnosis. This leads to a very high rate of complete cure and prevention of suffering of the patient and their relatives. Furthermore will reduce not only the cost of the treatment the patients need to undergo but also will impact on the sustainable development of . This service will be complimentary to that offered in the hospitals.  This service will be free of charge to all who will avail it.

 

 

The Association is responsible to raise funds through donations from the private sector, philanthropists and through the efforts of those individuals who are to donate their time and effort to raise the needed funds for:

 

 

  1. The cost of the purchase of the unit

     

  2. The cost of maintaining the vehicle and the equipments.

     

  3. The running cost of the unit. This will include the personnel needed to run the service professionally.

     

 

The Association has organized a financial barometer as an indication of how far we have reached in our fund raising for the unit. Those who have donated to this fund will be recognized for their efforts. The funds raised are kept separate to those funds raised to run The Association to achieve its aims and objectives.

 

 

The Association through its President Mrs Yuthar Al Rawahy will be very happy to elaborate further, to those interested, about this very important, crucial and humanitarian project. This project is one of the example of how the people through the NGO’s can support the efforts and work hand in hand together with the government towards achieving better future for Oman as directed by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said through his wise leadership and guidance.

 

 

We request all to support this project so as to help the Association achieve its work towards serving the people living in this beautiful country of .
